POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Hate Violence Prevention Partnership (HVPPLA) is a coalition of three diverse organizations working to develop effective community efforts to eradicate hate motivated violence and foster intergroup solidarity in Los Angeles County.

Given this opportunity to create change in the community, under the direction of the HVPPLA Project Coordinator the HVPPLA Community Outreach Specialist is responsible for assisting with the advancement of all program objectives and will be responsible for working within the community to provide education and awareness about hate violence in Los Angeles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Serve as the key community outreach specialist disseminating information about HVPPLA. This will include social media posts, in-person venue outreach, community meetings and other activities.
- Maintain a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communications opportunities and disseminate promotional/educational materials about hate violence in Los Angeles to community members.
- Responsible for developing training curriculums, materials, and conducting hate violence prevention awareness and training in diverse community settings.
- In partnership with community organizations, conduct educational workshops on hate violence and social justice.
- The Specialist will conduct navigation services to assist community members to be aware of and access hate violence resources.
- Follow up on all referrals to ensure that an appropriate linkage was successful.
- Assist in attending collaborative meetings representing HVPPLA in order to identify and secure opportunities for collab and funding.
- Prepare program reports as directed by the Project Coordinator.
- Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:

- Experience and compassion working with culturally and socially diverse community groups who have been chronically underserved and highly impacted by hate violence.
- Bilingual English/Spanish with excellent verbal and written communication skills preferred.
- Able to work independently within an agency team and have excellent organizational skills.
- Self-motivated, problem solver, and able to organize job assignments with strong leadership skills.
- Ability and willingness to work in a team-oriented work environment, with professionals and paraprofessionals from different disciplines, as well as volunteers and clients.
- Must have a reliable form of transportation as travel to different sites within LA county is required.

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
