**Mission**:
To support the mission and ethos of the church by using music to build a welcoming community so that all generations can know God, participate freely and grow in faith together.

**Position Summary**:
The Director of Music Ministrieswill lead and oversee the music ministry during the 10-month choir season that runs from mid-August through mid-June and provide music in worship from the first Sunday after Labor Day through the first Sunday of the following June.

**Core Responsibilities**:
1. Plans, prepares, and rehearses music for worship in cooperation with the Pastor(s)

2. Directs the Choir during weekly worship and special services from the first Sunday after Labor Day through the first Sunday of June.

3. Assists other musical groups and soloists, including direct coordination and leadership as needed. Currently this includes the praise band, Covenant Kids choir, and adult bell choir.

4. Creates musical opportunities for worship participants of all ages, including preparation and rehearsal of worship-appropriate music.

6. Oversees maintenance of church-owned musical instruments.

7. Oversees the development and maintenance of music libraries.

8. Works effectively with the Pastor(s), the Worship and Music Ministry, fellow church employees and ministries, participants in the music ministry, and those responsible for coordinating and publicizing church activities.

10. Participates in on-going critiques of musical offerings with the pastor(s) and Worship and Music Ministry and is responsive to suggestions and requests.

**Accountability**:
The Director of Music works with the Pastor(s) in the selection and delivery of music for weekly services and other worship activities. The Worship and Music Ministry will provide the Director of Music with helpful feedback on job performance and other matters they deem relevant to music in worship and other church activities

**Abilities and Qualifications**:
1. Education and experience in selecting, preparing and delivering music appropriate to Christian worship.

2. Knowledge of and ability to select, rehearse, and direct sacred musical repertoire of diverse genres appropriate to blended worship services.

3. Is a mature follower of Jesus Christ.

4. Responsive and open to the input of other worship participants and sensitive to the Spirit of God.

5. Committed to personal integrity and ministry excellence.

**Time Commitment/Compensation/Review**:Responsibilities expected to require 15**-**20 hours per week during the 10-month choir season as reflected in Schedule-A (attached). Salary is $1,600 per month during the 10-month choir season.

During the choir season the Director of Music Ministries will provide the Worship and Music Ministry 4-weeks’ notice prior to resignation and the Worship and Music Ministry will provide the Director of Music 4-weeks’ notice prior to any termination of employment. The Director of Music Ministries will be asked each June to make a commitment to serve as the Director of Music Ministries for the upcoming choir season that starts in September.

The Worship and Music Ministry will be responsible for conducting a performance review, no less frequently than annually and with change of Pastor, of the Director of Music Ministries and make changes to the position description as needed. As an employee of the church, the Director of Music Ministries is ultimately accountable to the Church Council which retains final authority with respect to all practices and decisions that affect the employer-employee relationship.
