**About Our District**
The Madison Metropolitan School District is the second largest school district in Wisconsin. The district serves a beautifully diverse population of more than 27,000 students. More than half are students of color. Almost half come from low income households. Nearly one third are English Language Learners, and more than 100 languages are represented in our schools. Madison schools are committed to making this district a place where every child thrives.
**Purpose of Position**:
This position provides leadership over all elements of health services in the Madison Metropolitan School District. This position works in close collaboration with the clinical staff / teacher leaders in health services
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
Program Development & Implementation
- Provide district-wide business leadership for the health services department, promoting physical, mental and social emotional health of students in a large, urban PK-12 school district
- Serve on the core leadership team for the Student & Staff Supports department
- With the district wide nurse leadership team, develop, implement and evaluate Health Services programs with input from school, district and agency staff, and MMSD youth/students and families. This includes:
- Creating an annual report that reviews current goals/progress, updates health needs assessment and priorities and recommends 1-3 year strategic/operational plan.
- Developing quarterly goals including action plan and metrics of success
- With the Director of MentalHealth co-lead the program development of the physical health component of the SBHC.
- Develop and implement project plans that include concrete action steps and a comprehensive monitoring system
- Collaborate and coordinate across the Department of Student and Staff Support ensure coherence across disciplines and within teams, programs
- Work with district wide nursing leadership to coordinate programs intended to prevent injury, promote health and safety, and respond in emergencies, including but not limited to: Stop the Bleed, CPR/AED, Narcan, contraception, menstrual hygiene, etc.
- Co-lead the development and implementation of comprehensive school wellness centers in secondary schools
- Work with district wide nursing leadership to ensure comprehensive programming and supports for students with life threatening conditions and/or complex health conditions such (e.g. asthma, diabetes, allergies)
- Contribute to alcohol and other drug (AOD) program development and implementation
- Coordinate vision screening and dental health program opportunities
Program Evaluation, Assessment, & Data
- Develop comprehensive data collection and analysis protocols to ensure ensure student safety and promote student health
- Provide data to collaborating partners/agencies and community members (ABC collaborative, Combat Blindness, Celebrate Smiles, COVID dashboard, UW Health, GHC-SCW)
- Report data to to district, state and federal entities, as required (e.g. line list to Public Health)
- Assure required reporting to collaborating partners/agencies (DPI, DHS, PHMDC)
- Collect, analyze, display and report data on communicable diseases (vaccination, case data and testing data)
- Collaborate with a team responsible for analyzing, reporting and action planning around the Dane County Youth Assessment (DCYA)
- Develop an action-based dashboard. Identify and report on key metrics of success to accurately assess performance of programs.
