As the Mitigation Supervisor you will work with community organizations, department leaders, and other employees to offer guidance and supervise the Trial Division Mitigation Specialist staff. This position also maintains a reduced caseload.

We Also Value- Additional years of behavioral health, trauma, substance abuse, or related casework experience- Experience providing mitigation services in an indigent defense environment- Prior supervisory and/or leadership experience- Experience in trauma-informed care and working with diverse populations- Comprehensive understanding of available community resources and demonstrated ability to establish collaborative partnerships with community in a culturally responsive manner- Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices related to mitigation and sentencing

Job Contributions- Supervise and manage the performance of a group of mitigation specialists. Evaluate, hire, train and provide ongoing professional development for mitigation specialists- Prioritize caseloads, assigns cases, and monitor progress of mitigation to ensure timely completion- Maintain an active caseload of complex and highly sensitive cases, including maintaining case files and case logs- Establish rapport, interview and maintain contact with client, their family, and interested parties; conduct assessments, meetings, and referrals- Analyze clients' social, medical, and psychological histories, education records, and legal documents to identify mitigating factors- Provide written and oral recommendations to attorneys and the court regarding sentencing alternatives- Collaborate with community agencies and builds relationships to secure social, educational, mental health, and employment resources for clients- Collaborate with attorneys to develop effective defense strategies and case theories.- Prepare correspondence, social histories, reports and submit social histories to psychologists and attorneys- Testify in court; present updates and trainings to departmental leaders and employees as needed
