**Essential Functions**:
The Judiciary Clerk performs case processing duties and responsibilities daily by entering data into the Maryland District Court Criminal/Traffic system (Odyssey and File & Serve) for Anne Arundel County District Court. The incumbent assists and provides the public with information regarding Criminal/Traffic cases and court procedures. This is specialized clerical work that follows clearly established guidelines and procedures.

Processing motions, postponements, considerations, speedy trial, guilty pleas, restitution hearings, sentencings, violations of probations, removal of cases from stet status. Verifying arrest warrants throughout the day and scanning documents into the appropriate area of the file.

Entering appearances, writs, name changes, address changes, requests for speedy trial or other data entry back logs when needed. Processing appeals, jury trials and mailing to appropriate parties. Processing copies to various agencies and parties. Assisting with customer service by answering phones.

Recalling bench warrants, issuing writs and entering trial dates.

Notifying all parties on cases of rulings made at the last-minute on motions received in cases where trial is scheduled within the next few days.

Updating Officer court schedules.

**Education**:
High School diploma (or GED equivalent).

**Experience**:
One (1) year of work experience, preferably in court operations or in the fields of criminal justice, parole and probation, legal or financial services.

**Note**:
A Bachelor?s Degree may substitute the required work experience.

A Paralegal/Associates Degree or 60 college credits may substitute the required work experience.

A Paralegal Certificate may substitute the required work experience.

**Knowledge of**:
General office practices, procedures, and equipment.

Standard legal forms and documents used in the Judiciary.

Basic English and arithmetic to include, but not limited to, spelling, punctuation, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

**Skill in**:
Customer service and handling problems tactfully and patiently.

Typing on a personal computer.

Accuracy and attention to detail.

**Ability to**:
Use standard office and business equipment including, but not limited to, personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, database software, copier, microfilm machine, register, scanner, fax machine, etc.

Use and maintain alphabetical and numerical filing systems.

Utilize appropriate forms, follow and process work in accordance with rules, regulations and laws.

Communicate clearly, tactfully, and effectively with judges, the public, police agencies, attorneys, and other court officials and personnel, both verbally and in writing.

Understand and abide by departmental rules, regulations, and procedures.

Exercise tact and understanding in stressful situations.

Interpret and follow complex directions.

Perform all essential functions of the position.
