**_ DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS_**Responsibilities**:

- Works to build relationships with members of vulnerable populations (such as people in crisis or at risk of crisis, people facing homelessness, poverty, addictions and or mental illness) without judgement.
- Develop strategic, effective partnerships that connect underserved populations with library services.
- Connects, builds, and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies neighborhood groups, social services agencies, and volunteer organizations.
- Maintain documentation, statistics and reports on projects, goals and programs related to social services and outreach activities.
- Provide information and assistance to library customers.
- Requires evenings and weekends (Saturdays and Sundays) 8am-8:15pm shift work on a rotating basis.
- Other duties as assigned.

**_WORKING CONDITIONS_**
Position requires stooping and bending; lifting of library materials up to 20 pounds. Must be able to move freely throughout the library to file/retrieve library materials. Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing.

**MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS**:
**_EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS_**
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration or a related field.

**_EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS_**
Two (2) years of experience in community organizational work, resource and referral services, or a closely related field are required.

**_LICENSE REQUIREMENTS_**
A valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).

**PREFERENCES**:

- Bachelor’s in Social work or closely related field.
- Experience with library, community, non-profit, socials services, or government program.
- Strong communication skills and experience with public speaking.
- Ability to work effectively with and in diverse populations.
- Experience working with disadvantage individuals suffering from mental illness, chronic illness, veterans or homelessness.
- Effective collaboration and networking skills.
- To better serve the communities, fluency in a foreign language is highly preferred.
