Join our outstanding team dedicated to helping people with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities grow and find independence in their communities.
We are seeking an energetic, patient, thoughtful, and outgoing Community Facilitator to support & assist an individual in the surrounding community. You will teach all community safety & awareness, social interactions & self-help skills. Support the individual to engage in various activities and ensure their safety and well-being. Additionally, the individual may require assistance with the administration of an epi pen, so it is crucial to be knowledgeable and prepared in case of an emergency. As a Direct Support Professional, you will play a vital role in helping individuals with autism and other intellectual and developmental disabilities thrive in their communities.
**Work Experience
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide one-to-one support to an individual in their home & community whom has a diagnosis of Autism or other developmental disabilities & has limited safety awareness.
- Implement the individuals Support Plan as developed
- Provide the necessary accommodations to support an individual with various challenges (behavioral, physical, communication, etc.) within their home and community
- Support the individual to establish a daily/weekly schedule of activities.
- Act as a mentor and role model for socially acceptable and culturally valued ways to interact and support each other to be successful
- Participate hands-on in all activities
- Assist and support the person to maintain their own personal safety and well-being
- Provide information to family members about the unique needs of the individual to assist in the building of a more cohesive family unit.
- Comply with all policies and procedures of the organization and public locations of activities
- Other responsibilities as assigned
