Job Summary:
**Duties**:

- Review and analyze medical records to accurately assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered
- Ensure compliance with coding guidelines and regulations, including ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems
- Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for services
- Prepare and submit accurate claims to insurance companies or government agencies for reimbursement
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, appealing as necessary to ensure maximum reimbursement
- Maintain patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of information
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to resolve billing issues or discrepancies
- Stay updated on industry changes, new coding guidelines, and reimbursement policies

**Skills**:

- Proficient in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems such as ICD-9 and ICD-10
- Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and diagnosis codes
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes
- Ability to analyze medical records and identify relevant information for coding purposes
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients
- Knowledge of medical collection practices and procedures
- Understanding of DRG (Diagnosis Related Group) coding system is a plus

**Requirements**:

- High school diploma or equivalent; certification in medical billing or coding preferred
- Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly desirable

Note: All positions must be paid including internship positions.

Pay: $18.34 - $22.08 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
