Under the general direction of the Supervising Transportation Engineer, the Staff Services Manager (SSM) I (Specialist) will manage the Office of State Programs (OSP) liaison needs by providing strategic operations and performance management support to the Division of Local Assistance (DLA) within OSP. The incumbent assists with complex issues of critical concern to the department and analyzes and develops recommendations and alternative solutions for critical OSP issues related to the Division’s mission. The SSM I (Specialist) provides management-level presence, in both written and verbal communications, while facilitating to resolution, or implementing complex, multi-organizational issues, involving OSP and Caltrans' Divisions, Districts, and transportation partners.

Working Conditions

**Position located in Sacramento.**

Most of the work will be performed in an office setting with coordination with the other staff and using project files and computer systems.
- Some travel will be required to attend monthly, quarterly or annual meetings and/or training sessions as a participant or to provide training to the districts and local agencies. Possession of a valid driver’s license is required when operating a State owned or leased vehicle.
