**CTE Welding Technology Teaching Assistant**

**POSITION**:The CTE Welding Technology Technology Teaching Assistant will support the Welding Teacher with high school CTE students who are learning skills in the Welding Technology lab(s). This individual will work Monday-Friday, 35 hours per week during the school year (9 month position)

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Work collaboratively with the instructor supporting students as they obtain practical skills and knowledge in the various areas of Welding Technology.
- Assist the instructor with various assignments, facilitate student learning, and supervise the students throughout the classroom and lab areas.
- Assist the instructor during all phases of instruction.
- Assist the instructor in maintaining student records.
- Assist instructor with inventory, ordering, and accounting procedures.
- Help maintain inventory, equipment, safety, and security.
- Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or instructor, which may include assisting with supervision in the hallways, parking lots, etc.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Knowledge of safety, repair, and maintenance
- Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Word and Excel) and the ability and willingness to learn new technology
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal relationship skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Any State of Michigan Welding Certification preferred
- 4,000 hours of work experience in welding (or related) profession preferred
- Experience working with high school age students preferred

**PAY**: $17.50 - $20.34/hour (based on qualifications & experience), 7 hours/day, on school days (which is typically 5 days/week)

**START DATE**: 2024-2025 School Year

Pay: $17.50 - $20.34 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
