Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced research professional with a full understanding of in-depth statistical analyses and/or research software programming techniques. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. The Program Coordinator will work under the direction of the Amend Chief Program Officer to provide coordination, data collection, management, analysis, and other duties as required in support of Amend’s Program Design work and Program Evaluation & Impact work.For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

**Department Description**
- Amend at UCSF was founded by Dr. Brie Williams, Professor of Medicine at UCSF as a research and training program that designs and delivers training, education, and advocacy and conducts health and health services research to develop and advance a health-first vision of the prison system transformation in the United States. Based on evidence developed in the course of program implementation and evaluation, alongside independent research, Amend engages prison partners in the U.S. to achieve significant policy reform, retrain staff, and elevate the voices of incarcerated people and other directly impacted communities in pursuit of a transformed societal response to crime and approach to incarceration. In addition, Amend serves as a technical support provider and research consultant to criminal justice organizations - primarily U.S. jails and prisons - working to improve the quality, safety, and reach of health care services in their institutions. Through its growing roster of national and international partners, Amend is leading the way in defining alternative, health, and human rights-focused harm reduction strategies inside US prisons that are better for both incarcerated people and prison staff. In its role as a leading organization in this work, Amend is increasingly engaged in public communication and advocacy efforts and seeking new, creative approaches to change the public conversation on crime, criminal justice, and public health in America.
- The UCSF Center for Vulnerable Populations at San Francisco General Hospital carries out innovative research to prevent and treat chronic disease in populations for whom social conditions often conspire to both promote various chronic diseases and make their management more challenging. Founded in 2006, the CVP is located on the campus of San Francisco General Hospital. Beyond the local communities it serves, CVP is nationally and internationally known for its research in health communication and health policy to reduce health disparities, with special expertise in the social determinants of health, including literacy, homelessness, food policy, poverty, and minority status, with a focus on the clinical conditions of pre-diabetes, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease.

**Required Qualifications**
- Three or more years of experience in a related field / with relevant research experience.
- Graduate degree in public health, statistics, epidemiology, or related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
- Thorough skills in statistical analysis and data management in STATA, SAS, or R.
- Substantive knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Skills to communicate complex information clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
- Ability to work discreetly with sensitive and confidential data.
- Skills in project management and program implementation.
- Experience working with the incarcerated population
- Experience conducting research about the occupational health of prison staff

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Extensive experience conducting statistical analysis, program evaluations, and working with administrative data or longitudinal cohorts.
- Research skills at a level to evaluate alternate solutions and develop recommendations.
- Knowledge of Tableau or other data visualization software.
