**Duties**:

Writes, edits, and reviews reports, webpages or other information materials for diverse audiences on a variety of topics. Identifies data sources and information and highlights key issues and program requirements to complete assignments. Writes succinct and well-referenced summaries.

Drafts or edits programs, policies, functions, and topics that affect agency mission, such as print and digital statistical reports, press releases, articles, guidance documents, presentations, promotional material, and reports to senior officials. Reviews new material for factual accuracy, timeliness, completeness, responsiveness, suitability for the intended audience, and copyright compliance.

Creates or edits statistical graphics and tables using standard desktop software or content management systems when required. Prepares print or digital page layouts of reports or other content for publication.

Consults with editorial team on various style issues. Consults with the lead technical writer-editor and the Chief of the Communications Unit to plan for and oversee publications and products under development.

**Qualifications**:
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GRADE 11**:
Qualifying experience for the GS-11 level includes one year of specialized experience at least equivalent to GS-9 which is in or directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: Experience requirements at the GS-11 level may be met by three (3) full academic years of graduate level education or the successful completion of a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
- COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements.
- **TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS**

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications as described above will be further evaluated based upon the following technical qualifications:
- Knowledge of style for publications, posters, brochures, and other printed or digital material.
- Ability to accurately write and edit materials containing complex technical ideas for a variety of internal and external audiences.
- Ability to perform editorial review of manuscripts and copy for cultural sensitivity, content, accuracy, and writing.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing.
- Ability to meet and deal with others.

TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENT: Status applicants for promotion must have 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade by the closing date.

This position has a duty station of Washington, D.C. The selectee will be required to physically report to the OJP office building at least four (4) days per bi-weekly pay period and may incorporate leave and official travel plans into this reporting requirement. The office director or supervisor may request the selectee's presence in the office more frequently, as determined by the needs of the office. The selectee will be responsible for covering all commuting-related travel expenses. OJP employees are eligible for one transportation benefit - parking or the Department of Justice (DOJ) transit subsidy.
