The School of Molecular Sciences is seeking a motivated, student centric Academic Success Advisor to support the academic success team. The Academic Success Advisor promotes and supports student retention and graduation university-wide and advises students in making timely progress toward degree completion through a range of in-person and virtual academic counseling and support strategies. This position supports both immersion (i.e. on-campus) and online student populations. This role reports to the Associate Director of Academic Services for the school.

Hybrid work or alternative work schedule may be considered after hire and training.

**Essential Duties**
- Provides individual and group academic advising for the School of Molecular Sciences.
- Works closely and collaboratively with students, faculty, and staff to support academic success.
- Interviews and counsels undergraduate and prospective students regarding policies, procedures and academic requirements.
- Disseminates information and guidance regarding enrollment procedures, program admission criteria and process, major map requirements, and course selection.
- Maintains student files and records.
- Proactively monitors student academic performance; addresses, responds to, and works to resolve student concerns, questions, or issues; collaborates closely with students to identify all academic options including, but not limited to: degrees, tutoring, counseling, career services, success coaches, extracurricular activities, study abroad program(s), research, and internships; supports and provides counsel to students in selection of options best suited to the student's goals, interests, and skills.
- Acts as a college/department/school representative to current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and external groups on issues related to academic success.
- Works to ensure ongoing satisfaction for students with their program and degree progress, provides follow up to ensure satisfaction with and effectiveness of services, and utilizes a variety of university data and programmatic direction to promote student academic success.
- Regularly monitors assessment resources to refine and build effective practices.
- Works collaboratively and collegially with academic unit and services throughout the university to facilitate comprehensive student support.
- Plans and develops advising strategies to meet the needs of undergraduate students using technological tools including but not limited to student profile reports, Salesforce, PeopleSoft, DARS, eAdvisor, and more.
- Communicates with other department and university administrators; resolves or assists with the resolution of sensitive issues.

**Minimum Qualifications**

Bachelor’s degree AND one (1) year or more previous experience in one or more of the following: advising, student recruitment/retention or related student services utilizing a proactive and innovative approach which results in demonstrated outcomes in retention, graduation, and academic planning; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

**Desired Qualifications**
- Evidence of a Master's Degree completed or in progress preferred
- Experience teaching coursework or leading workshops for students in an educational environment.
- Experience demonstrating sensitivity to needs of a diverse student population.
- Demonstrated knowledge of principles, practices, procedures and methods of evidence-based academic advising strategies.
- Experience using student information systems such as PeopleSoft, Salesforce, and DARS.
- Experience in rapidly adapting and effectively utilizing new technology, practices, policies and methods.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with peers, faculty, students, administration, faculty and other interested parties.
- Evidence of effective communication skills.
- Experience in interpreting student needs and determining when referral to other university resources is appropriate.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ASU academic structure and organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of academic programs, colleges, and departments university-wide.
