In this position, you will be responsible for providing exercise and companionship to dogs in our care. This is a great opportunity for animal lovers who enjoy spending time outdoors and interacting with furry friends.

**Duties**:

- Walk dogs on a regular basis, ensuring their safety and well-being
- Engage in playtime activities with dogs to promote physical and mental stimulation
- Provide basic care for dogs and cats, including feeding and watering (medication administration experience is a plus)
- Clean up after dogs during walks and dispose of waste properly
- Monitor dogs for any signs of distress or illness and report to the supervisor
- Follow specific instructions provided by dog owners regarding their pets' care and behavior
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for both the dogs and yourself during walks
- Provide excellent customer service to pet owners, addressing any concerns or questions they may have

Qualifications:

- LOVE both dogs and cats
- Have experience with dogs and their behavior with the ability to handle dogs of various sizes and temperaments (your own pets count)
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions accurately
- Physical stamina to walk multiple dogs for extended periods of time
- Ability to handle heavy lifting, as some dogs may be large or require assistance
- Be professional, neat and tidy in clients' homes
- Be able to work independently and take initiative
- Have a smartphone and be tech-savvy
- Have excellent communication skills & grammar
- Own a reliable vehicle with valid license, registration & insurance; have a willingness to transport dogs in said vehicle
- Be local to the community. **You must live in Old Saybrook or a neighboring town.**:

- Be Pet CPR/First-Aid certified or willing to take a class
- Be able and willing to work with us for at least a year. The pets & clients will want to develop a long-term relationship with you.
- Be available on rotation to dog walk/pet sit on holidays, as needed
- Pass a criminal / background check
