Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Evangelization & Faith Formation the Coordinator of Youth & Campus Ministry develops, coordinates and fosters a comprehensive youth ministry program for grades six through twelve. This position develops communication with and mutual support from families of youth and partners with other community, Parish and Diocesan youth organizations. The Coordinator of Youth & Campus Ministry fosters the goals and objectives of the USCCB document “Renewing the Vision” for youth ministry.

**Requirements**:
**Program Development**
- Recruits, trains, develops and motivates all youth, peer and adult volunteers; works in collaboration with the Diocese to provide leadership training; offers annual safe environment training and maintains records on each volunteer.
- Develops and facilitates a peer-leadership group led by high school youth, for the spiritual growth and development of other youth in the parish.
- Develops positive relationships with parents in order to assist them in the spiritual development of their children.
- Works to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.
- Works to foster leadership skills in youth and adult volunteers.
- Provides weekly youth catechesis for youth to hear and respond to the Gospel message.
- Provides necessary sacrament preparation for students in grades six through twelve.
- Plans, coordinates and implements weekend retreats and evenings of prayer reflection.
- Plans, coordinates, and implements consistent community service opportunities for youth and families.
- Builds relational ministry with teens and parents by attending St John Bosco school events.
- Works with the sixth to eight grade teachers at St John Bosco school to facilitate students retreat and other campus ministry events.

**Administration**
- Provides budget input for high school and middle school youth ministry programs.
- Maintains necessary office and program records, including rosters of youth and a log of activities.
- Submits periodic youth ministry reports to the Pastor and Pastoral Council as requested.
- Works with parish staff to determines effective means for publicizing and promoting programs and experiences.
- Serves as the liaison with the diocesan office of youth ministry and their programs, services and resources.

**Communication**
- Maintains regular communication with youth and their families through bulletin, parish e-newsletter, website, social media, and other communication tools.
- Keep the Parish community informed of youth ministry activities and goals.
- Initiates ways of gathering data on the need, interest, attitudes and beliefs of the youth.

**Parish Staff Member**
- Attends regular staff meetings and participates in staff planning.
- Supervises and coordinates scheduling of youth events and activities.
- Work in collaboration with parish staff in scheduling, visioning, planning, and implementing activities, events and processes that overlap into other areas of staff responsibility.
- Communicate with staff about youth ministry activities and seek staff input in planning such activities.

**Additional Job Functions**
- Perform any other position related tasks as deemed necessary or assigned by the Pastor or Faith Formation Director.
- Participate in the diocesan association of professional youth ministers and in any local youth ministers association.
- Be available to parishioners by maintaining posted office hours.
- Church-related meetings and activities outside the parish will be secondary to any scheduled meetings and activities at the parish and at the discretion of the Pastor.

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Ability to engage in ongoing, professional formation; keep informed of trends in youth ministry, theology and methodology in ministry; participate in Diocesan workshops and seminars, and courses in methodology and theology where needed.
- Ability to maintain a good working relationship with the wider civic community at large.
- Knowledge of all Diocesan guidelines and procedures.
- Proficiency in use of a variety of office equipment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office computer programs including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work collaboratively with Pastoral staff and lay leaders.
- Ability to work some nights and weekends.
- Must complete annual Diocesan safe environment training.
- Must have valid AZ Driver’s License and own transportation and the ability to drive on company business in conformance with the Diocese of Phoenix Transportation Policy.

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Religious Education or Theology or National Credential in Youth Ministry or background in theology and educational methodologies with a willingness to move toward credential or degree.
