**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
The Pretrial Services Navigator (PSN) offers case management and supportive services for individuals who are placed on pretrial supervison release. The focus is on individuals who may have acute needs, such as mental health challenges, housing insecurity, substance abuse issues, or other vulnerabilities. The Pretrial Services Navigators will assist in the pre-planning for pretrial release from jail, coordinate reentry services upon release back into the community, and provide ongoing support to help these individuals successfully navigate the community while their criminal matter is pending resolution. The primary goal is to offer comprehensive assistance and resources to aid their successful integration into society during this critical period.
- Responsible for facilitating connections between individuals granted supervised pretrial release and substance abuse providers. This involves coordinating calls to the Be Well Access Line and assisting the individual with intake and treatment appointments, as appropriate.
- Linking individuals granted supervised pretrial release to housing resources. This includes providing transportation support and coordinating calls to the Be Well Access Line to assist with intake and treatment appointments, as appropriate.
- Manages a caseload of approximately 25 clients.
- Conducts one-on-one interviews with clients to assess their strengths, resources, and needs, which may include personal concerns, financial considerations, employment status, access to essentials such as food and clothing, existing and required housing, and physical and mental impairments.

Holds the responsibility of creating a case plan for each client referred within one (1) week from the referral date, unless otherwise agreed upon by the County. The case plan will be provided to the client and the County.
- Provide explanations of the program to court-referred clients while being present during court proceedings.
- Refers clients to suitable resources that can aid them in achieving their objectives, such as mental health services, drug and alcohol treatment programs, and mandatory probation/parole attendance groups like Domestic Violence, Anger Management, and Reunification.
- Prepare comprehensive court reports and attend relevant court hearings.
- Maintain accurate client data in the agency database, ETO and county database daily.
- Be prepared to respond to crisis situations promptly and effectively, providing immediate assistance and access to appropriate resources when needed.
- Transports clients in the agency-provided vehicle for appointments as required.
- Provides a weekly report to the Program Manager, sharing updates, progress, and important information related to the job responsibilities and activities.
- Responsible for promptly notifying the manager of any work orders that need to be submitted or supplies that need to be ordered.
- Responsible for attending staff meetings, ensuring timely completion of training, and accurately completing timecards.
- Perform related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

**Education and/or Work Experience Requirements**:

- High School Diploma or equivalent: A minimum educational requirement to demonstrate basic literacy and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in related fields or have at least three (3) years of non-profit or related experience.
- Certification as a substance abuse counselor through a DHS (Department of Human Services) agency.
- Employees are required to maintain an active SUD certification throughout their employment.
- Prior experience working with individuals and families dealing with mental health and/or legal issues.
- Excellent communication skills: Ability to effectively communicate with shelter residents, colleagues, and external stakeholders.
- Crisis intervention skills: Capacity to handle crisis situations and de-escalate conflicts.
- Empathy and compassion: Demonstrating genuine care and understanding for individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Ability to work in a team: Collaboration and cooperation with other shelter staff, volunteers, and external agencies.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Google)
