- Minimum of five years of experience and progressive responsibility as a professional development officer and/or prior professional experience in a related field such as sales, marketing or business development. (required)
- Demonstrated experience in soliciting major gifts and/or prior experience with solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity. (required)
- Experience conceptualizing, planning and implementing special events. (required)
- Working knowledge of the principles and practices of major gift fundraising at a major research university or institution of equivalent complexity. (required)
- Proven skills in developing sophisticated strategies in planning, implementing and administering complex major gift solicitations or other solicitations of a similar nature, level and complexity. (required)
- Demonstrated skill and/or ability to work with a dean and/or senior faculty of a professional school or equivalent leadership of a similar level and type at a comparable organization. (required)
- Demonstrated leadership skills and outstanding interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with team members, colleagues and other internal/external constituents toward the accomplishment of fundraising goals; resourceful with ability to recognize opportunities. (required)
- Appropriate management and administrative skills needed to organize, direct, motivate and evaluate other professionals and volunteers; supervisory skills to oversee and evaluate the efforts of staff. (required)
- Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple tasks and multi-phase projects simultaneously from inception to completion and complete work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment without direct supervision. (required)
- Ability to communicate persuasively, both orally and in writing, about UCLA’s fundraising goals and the specific priorities of the School of the Arts and Architecture; equal ability to listen perceptively and convey sensitivity and awareness. (required)
