**SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: As an Accounting Assistant, you play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of the company. Your responsibilities include assisting with various accounting tasks, such as accounts payable and receivable, preparing invoices, processing expense reports, reconciling bank statements, and maintaining accurate financial records. You'll work closely with the accounting team to ensure timely and accurate reporting, while also adhering to established accounting principles and company policies. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and proficiency in accounting software are essential for success in this role. Additionally, your ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and communicate clearly will contribute to the smooth functioning of the finance department.**

**MAJOR DUTIES**:

- Post, balance and reconcile various general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
- Prepare monthly deposit and withdraw reports.
- Direct the preparation of journal entries and coordinate month-end closing procedures, review accrual accounts for adequate balances, review trial balance and general ledger and prepare financial statements.
- Oversee the renewal process for general liability, workmen’s compensation and employment practice insurance. Provide updated insurance values in conjunction with Human Resources to the insurance carriers for renewals. Update the policies for any changes in assets that occur throughout the policy year. Coordinate any claims filed against the policies. Obtain all necessary information for the annual policy audits and review audit findings for accuracy.
- Prepare weekly journal entry to record payroll expense in accounting software. Print checks for other payroll deductions on a weekly/monthly basis.
- Generate sales tax returns and submit payment monthly for each company.
- Maintain and update the property and equipment schedule monthly. Verify that new property and equipment additions meet our capitalization policy.
- Enter production of inventory. Add new inventory items and bill of materials to the accounting software for Trigard Memorials.
- Calculate commission payable weekly and either issue checks or credit customer’s accounts.
- Calculate royalty payments monthly and send report and payment to artist for Trigard Memorials
- Check intellectual property calendar for any needed trademark/patent renewals. Renew any intellectual property online. File required forms and submit payment. Record manual charge in bank reconciliation. Set reminder to follow up.

**MINOR DUTIES**:

- Meet and greet the public, always displaying a courteous and professional manner. Answer telephones in a courteous and professional manner. Take accurate telephone messages and/or direct phone calls appropriately.

**SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED**:

- Associate degree in Accounting or closely related field.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with customers in all types of situations.
- Excellent telephone and customer relations skills to present a professional image.
- Excellent organizational and trouble shooting skills to efficiently perform duties of position.
- Ability to successfully utilize computer and a variety of computer software.
- Must be detail orientated.

**MACHINES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED**:

- Must be proficient with a variety of common office equipment including: personal computer, printer, calculator, typewriter, copy machine and fax machine

**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Must be able to: sit for long periods of time, walk, talk, hear and lift objects up to 5 pounds.
- Must have clarity of vision at 20 inches or less.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
