Library Technician

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist in cataloging new materials and maintaining the library's database.
- Classify materials according to established systems (e.g., Library of Congress Classification, Dewey Decimal System).
- Manage the circulation desk, including checking out and returning materials.
- Maintain circulation records and ensure timely return of borrowed items.
- Process inter library loan requests.
- Provide reference assistance to library patrons, including legal researchers and department staff.
- Assist in conducting basic legal research and compiling information from various sources.
- Assist in the physical maintenance of library collections, including shelving, shifting, and weeding materials.
- Repair damaged books and other materials.
- Support the management and access to electronic resources and databases.
- Assist in updating and maintaining the library’s digital catalog.
- Perform clerical tasks such as filing, photocopying, and maintaining supplies.
- Assist with library projects and events as needed.
- Provide training and support to library interns and volunteers.

**Experience**:

- Associate degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications or coursework in library technology is a plus.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a library setting, preferably in a legal or government library.
- Experience with library automation systems and electronic resources.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using library databases, catalogs, and other information management tools.
- Basic understanding of legal terminology and resources is preferred.

**Job Type**: Contract

Pay: $40,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
