At Autumn Trails Veterinary Center our mission is to enhance the human-animal bond by providing compassionate, state-of-the-art medical, surgical and dental care to our patients. Along with being central Virginia’s first urgent care veterinary center, our services and facilities are designed to assist in routine preventive care for young, healthy pets**,** early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages, and medical and surgical care as necessary during their lifetime.

**Responsibilities**:

- Assist the veterinarian in exam rooms and use Avimark, our veterinary software, for documenting medical notes
- Communicate with and educate clients
- Provide compassionate patient care
- Collect specimens and perform routine laboratory procedures and tests in hematology, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology, urinalysis, and serology to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of animal health problems.
- Dispense and administer medications, vaccines, serums and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Administer and monitor anesthesia under the direction of a veterinarian
- Provide specialized nursing care for injured or ill animals.
- Assist in diagnosis, medical and surgical procedures using a range of high-tech diagnostic equipment including electrocardiographic, radiographic and ultrasonographic equipment.
- Maintain knowledge of preventive healthcare recommendations in order to answer client questions, provide education on vaccines, flea and heartworm products, and assist in marketing veterinary services from which their pet would benefit, such as a dental cleaning, senior wellness, spay and neuter and boarding.
- Educate clients on products and medications sold including dietary products and answer questions regarding product purchase/use.
- Clean, maintain and sterilize instruments, equipment, and materials.
- Work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors, and the practice philosophy.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 36 per week
