PCA s perform a variety of routine and advanced patient care tasks under the direction of nursing staff to assist medical and nursing personnel in the examination, treatment, and care of patients. They perform a variety of clerical and technical tasks as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Required:_
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association only
- Phlebotomy certified within 6 months of employment
- Completion of related technical education course
- On-the-job training or completion of Fundamentals in Nursing course
- Ability to perform all competencies
- Preferred:_
- One year of nursing assistant experience

**Certifications and Licenses**:

- BLS certification through American Heart Association
- Phlebotomy certified within 6 months of employment

**Scheduling Requirements**:

- Nights 7:00PM - 7:30AM
- Schedule during the week will vary depending on department needs
- Full-Time (37.5 hrs)
- Mandatory Orientation

**Essential Functions**:

- Participate in patient care interventions and personal care procedures for patients
- Perform approved dressings and wound care
- Participate in nutritional activities
- Assist with personal hygiene
- Assist with ambulation
- Assist with bowel and bladder elimination
- Provide such additional care as required to meet the personal needs and comfort of assigned patients
- Determine, prepare and set up medical supplies and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to include obtaining specimens, taking vital signs and measurements, positioning patients and attaching equipment leads to specific body locations
