Water/wastewater Treatment Plant Operator

: Assists the Assistant General Manager with operation of water and wastewater facilities, distribution, and collection system in accordance with all regulatory and company requirements.
- Daily checks and inspections of water and wastewater plant.
- Record daily readings as required by law.
- Collect and submit samples as needed.
- Complete, submit, and file monthly reports and all related records in a timely manner.
- Make repairs and/or see that repairs on equipment are completed.
- Correct unsafe work area conditions and immediately report any uncorrectable conditions to supervisor.
- Keep plants, equipment, and tools in clean and safe operating condition.
- Perform preventative maintenance on plants and equipment.
- Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Receive and complete work orders electronically.
- Monitor and adjust distributed control systems for optimal performance
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
- Respond to emergency calls as needed and be on-call/stand-by as assigned by supervisor.
- Adheres to all company policies as they relate to job functions.
- Perform water quality evaluation and communicate with the public.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Regular attendance.

- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Class C Driver License with insurable driving record
- Must possess minimum TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) class “C” Ground-water and wastewater certification.

- Able to take direction, multi-task, perform work safely.
- Ability to perform all essential duties and responsibilities listed above.
- Excellent time management and attention to detail
- Ability to learn and become proficient with new software, education and/or experience.
- Ability to work and interact well with departments throughout the organization.
- Must be self-motivated, possess self-initiative, work well independently, but also be a team player.
- Must communicate and respond in written and verbal forms with all levels of staff and management professionally.
- Ability to lift 50lbs safely to perform job duties.
- Ability to work in any weather conditions.
- Ability to read meters accurately and in a timely manner.
- Perform valve surveys, manhole surveys, meter change outs, leak investigations, sewer stoppages, meter box replacement and various field related work.
- Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours and on weekends as required.
- Prior experience in Water & Wastewater treatment or related field
- Proficiency in operating and repairing equipment used in water treatment
- Knowledge of distributed control systems and logic controllers
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks as required
- Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting equipment issues

Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
