**About the Job**:
The Leader for the Southern California Asphalt Plants (From LA to San Diego) is responsible for partnering across Southern California with other leaders to ensure the production of asphalt contributes to the overall achievement of the Divisions earning goals.

The individual is responsible for managing and directing asphalt plant operations in Southern Califonia. He/She will ensure that assigned plants meet or exceed operations, production, capital and cost reduction goals and objectives against budget. The individual will ensure that assigned facilities are in compliance with Vulcan Materials Company policies, procedures and practices.

**What You'll Do**:

- Ensure that assigned plants meet or exceed budget goals and objectives.
- Manages and directs plants to ensure that Company and Division is maximizing return on its assets (Economic Profit).
- Monitor performance of and mentor direct and indirect Operations staff, assisting them in quality recruitment, development of staff, and delivery of results that meet or exceed planned expectations.
- Develop and drive consistent, sustainable high performance along a balanced scorecard of operational KPIs.
- Ensures that all assigned plants are in compliance with all Company and Division policies and procedures to include governmental rules and regulations.
- Provides leadership and manages the activities of the division’s asphalt operations and support staff in the performance of their responsibilities. Attract, maintain and motivate high level talent dedicated to the strategic objectives of the division.
- Keeps abreast of professional and technical development to maintain and improve knowledge and skills and improve the performance of our operations. Keeps abreast of legislative activity and communicates applicable information to all levels of management. Develops, implements, monitors adherence to, and measures effectiveness of programs and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
- Effectively manages, develops and motivates staff. Provides candid and consistent feedback as well as coaching to employees. Provides mentoring and guidance to team and other employees to drive excellence. Conducts quarterly performance dialogues with staff.
- Works closely with Division resources to ensures that all permits and reclamation plans are current and takes appropriate steps to secure new permits to expand Company operations at assigned plants.
- Manages and directs employee relations activities at assigned plants to ensure a high level of employee satisfaction and assigned plants operate with no work stoppages or any type of employee disruptions.
- Ensures that all assigned plants have zero accidents and are in full compliance with all Company and Division SHE policies and procedures.
- Manages and directs the annual budget process where each plant develops detailed operating budget to include capital plan and cost reduction programs.
- Works with sales in addressing customer relations and customer service requirements to ensure Operations meets or exceeds customer expectations.
- Ensures that materials produced are processed in accordance with Company and Division specifications and quality standards.
- Manages and directs the capital budget for each site to ensure that all capital projects are completed according to AFE and cost projections.
- Manages and directs automation and process improvement goals and objectives for assigned plants to ensure that productivity and efficiency goals and objectives are met.
- Ensures that each assigned plant has a comprehensive system to track and monitor costs on a daily/monthly basis to determine performance and develop plans to address variances.
- Ensure that each plant has an effective preventive maintenance program in place to perform regular and routine maintenance.
- Other duties may be assigned as required.

**Skills You'll Need**:

- Education: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience is desired.
- Experience: 10+ year’s experience in the industry (asphalt, aggregates and/or concrete experience is a plus) with a track record of progressive responsibility and successful operations management.
