As a lead worker, performs all supervisory duties necessary to provide a uniform and continuing flow in district justice functions and is completely familiar with all aspects of work in the district court.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- At the direction of the District Judge, performs such supervisory duties with respect to the assignment and overseeing of work tasks among the staff of the office as may be required.
- Monitors and reviews the work of the staff for Procedures correctness in compliance with AOPC Procedures Manual, PA Rules of Court and the Internal Control Performance Manual.
- Monitors and maintains accuracy on all case progress reports and undisbursed funds reports.
- Facilitates the magisterial district court staff to be trained and informed of changes/updates to procedures, Rule amendments, directives, inter-office memos, etc.
- Researches questions/problems for the staff/District Judge.
- At the direction of the District Judge, administers oaths and affirmation as prescribed by local rule.
- Maintains inventory control of all supplies and orders as required.
- Signs district court checks in the absence of the District Judge.
- Responsible for preparing/maintaining payroll for district court staff.
- Performs general secretarial duties such as letter writing and correspondence.
- Interacts effectively with the public, personnel and clients of the system.
- Reviews incoming mail and answers mail as directed by District Judge.
- Files all cases docketed in the district court according to the AOPC Procedures Manual. Maintains files on all cases docketed in the district court according to the PA Rules of Court and the AOPC Procedures Manual. Updates and maintains all daily reports (e.g., Warrants to Print/Issue, DL-38’s to Print, Summonses to Issue, Indigent Hearings, etc.).
- Enters citations, complaints and all other filings in the Magisterial District Judge System.
- As the direction of the District Judge, schedules trials, hearings and continuances. Prepares and handles the mailing of all notices as required.
- At the direction of the District Judge and/or as required by the President Judge, transports/sends records and reports to designated locations for the efficient operation of the Magisterial District Judge System.
- Handles all money received into the district court and prepares receipts for it. Balances the cash and receipts daily. Prepares bank deposits and deposits money in the bank designated as depository. Maintains accurate accounting records as set forth in the accounting manual.
- Prepares all required reports to state, county and local municipality. Prepares all required weekly and monthly checks to the state, county and local municipality.
- Assists Judicial Clerks when backlog occurs and handles designated responsibility when a Judicial Clerk is on vacation, sick or out of work for any other purpose.
- Ability to perform basic telephone etiquette, communicate in a pleasant fashion and converse courteously with a wide range of people to project a positive image of the department.
- Adheres to standards of conduct and decorum of the court.
- All other duties required by the District Judge and/or as required by the President Judge.

**SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
At the direction of the District Judge, supervises clerical staff as a lead worker.

**QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED**:

- Minimum education
- high school graduate.
- Keyboard skills
- minimum 40 wpm. Must successfully qualify in a supervisory skills examination administered by District Court Administration.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Judicial Clerk in a County District Court system.
- Must be available for on-call, after hour’s coverage when assigned.
- Must be able to operate general office equipment as required: computer, calculator, photocopying machine, fax machine, postage meter, credit card system, telephone and typewriter.
- A complete knowledge of the district court operations is preferable but not required.
