Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Data Acquisition Specialist for the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing - Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain data extraction pipelines from eMR, eHR, DICOM, FHIR, data repositories, and laboratory data and Monitor data pipelines to optimize performance to ensure data availability and responsiveness.- Use Python, Power BI, Tableau, image-to-text converter (e.g.,OCR), and SQL scripting to extract and transform data, ensuring its accuracy, consistency, and reliability.- Integrate data from various sources into a unified and accessible data repository.- Design additions to databases (DB) such as MS SQL to support and integrate new features and capabilities.- Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure data integrity.- Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to design data models that support analytical needs.- Utilize Power BI to create interactive and insightful data visualizations and reports.- Develop automated solutions for routine data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.- Implement best practices to optimize data processing and improve efficiency. Identify and address bottlenecks or performance issues in data processing.- Document data extraction, transformation, and integration processes for reference and knowledge sharing. Maintain up-to-date documentation of data sources, pipelines, and transformations.- Experience in orchestrating pipelines with technology like Airflow/Luigi/Oozie/Nifi.- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, IT administrators, and business stakeholders, to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.

Master's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of appropriate experience; or a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization and five years of experience required.
Experience with version control tools, such as Git and GitHub required.
Familiarity working in a cloud environment (e.g., AWS, MS Azure), Git, Databricks, and data visualization frameworks (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) required.
Ability to develop, document, and maintain analytical data files with variables derived from primary databases that are suitable and structured for statistical and predictive analytics required.
Experience in orchestrating pipelines with technology like Airflow/Luigi/Oozie/Nifi required.
Experience with at least one of Spark/Hive/Hadoop required.
Experience with science database systems (e.g., MDSplus) and time-series databases (e.g., InfluxDB) required.
Proficiency in Python, Javascript, or Typescript required.
Prior Experience in MongoDB, DataBricks, Domo, Google Analytics, Big Query, and Snowflake required.
Familiarity with SQL Server, AWS Redshift, Google Cloud Big Query, Snowflake or MySQL required.
