**Summary**

The Safety Manager will provide support to the Health, Safety and Environment Manager, to the Project Manager and to project staff to enforce corporate health and safety policies and procedures at the job site. This position overseas, leads, directs, and enforces health and safety on construction project. Responsible for identifying, eliminating, and controlling hazardous conditions that may lead to injury and/or property damage using job specific safety standards and management practices. This position includes to oversee Sarasota and Naples projects.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Implement and enforce Sacyr’s Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS) and implement the use of AXIS Risk Service 24/7 Nurse services.
- Verify the MOT plan is being correctly implemented.
- Become familiar with IS0 45001 Standard.
- Oversee and make decisions related to project Health & Safety and Environmental policies:

- Make decisions related to work stoppage when circumstances are related to an immediate danger to life and health on a project;
- Recommend and implement corrective action based on policies, guidelines and procedures;
- Communicate with project staff and subcontractors in connection with resolving field safety issues;
- Provide leadership on the project and build working relationship with project staff and each subcontractor safety representative to ensure proper compliance;
- Enforce safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all state, federal and local regulations and client contractual requirements;
- Train and advise project staff on safety guidelines and policies;
- Implement the drug screening program for the project;
- Maintain regulatory exposures to zero citations.
- Implement the overall site safety program as required, as well as ensure subcontractor compliance with Sacyr standards and all applicable safety codes and regulations:

- Conduct daily inspections and verifying compliance with HSE provisions;
- Conduct monthly safety audits;
- Conduct incident investigations;
- Attend progress meetings, and attend subcontractor safety meetings;
- Review subcontractor safety programs;
- Conduct site orientation, toolbox training and safety meetings and prepare related documentation;
- Inform the HSE and the PM about required HSE courses for all site personnel and maintain related records;
- Advise HSE Manger and PM about potential accidents that may occur during the execution of the work;
- Review and make recommendations related to subcontractor safety program; transfer of ACC safety requirements to suppliers/subcontractors, as needed;
- Evaluate need for training and make recommendations to subcontractors;
- Collaborate with HSE Manager to define and implement project schedules and audit activities to ensure project compliance with HSE management system and operational procedures and risk assessment documents;
- Provide assistance with proposing safety solution for potential nonconformities;
- Follow up and report on corrective/preventive action results and effectiveness;
- Maintain up to date records relating to accidents, injuries and relevant HSE statistics;
- Investigate and report client claim information to HSE Manager;
- Maintain and report safety performance;
- Maintain documentations and HSE files according to corporate filing system requirements;
- Conduct environmental inspections to implement best practices;
- Conduct water sampling activities at environmentally protected waterways.
- Interact with attorneys, adjusters, clinics, doctors, and employees.
- Coordinate with OSHA and insurance inspectors
- Serve as a liaison between owner, regulatory agencies, subcontractors and/or internal departments on quality related matters.

**Qualifications/Requirements**:
Required: OSHA 500; and Advanced Traffic Control

5+ years of experience in the construction industry

Knowledge of OSHA and DOT standards in construction

Ability to train, influence and motivate team members

Preferred: 3+ years of roadway, bridge and/or highway experience

Bachelor’s degree preferred

Some travel required (5-10 percent)

It is suggested that the employee is previously conditioned to experience long amounts of time outside in the physical elements, such as heat, sun, wind, rain, etc. The employee will occasionally be exposed to dust and loud noises.
