The **Operations Safety Manager - Central Region** is responsible for oversight of the Rayonier Contractor Safety Program in the Central region, including operations in Alabama, Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. The role of this position includes safety data collection & reporting, work site observations, oversight of contractor safety performance and training for contractors and staff. Additionally, this position will assist in conducting TapRoot Incident investigations and implementation of standards/processes as they relate to contractor activities in compliance with required contractual obligations. The Operations Safety Manager will collaborate with the Safety Team, Resource Units, Research and Land Resources to identify and propose corrective actions for safety issues.

**Location:** This position has a flexible office location but must report to a location within the region.

**Primary Responsibilities**

* Gain full knowledge of Rayoniers Contractor Safety Program and ensure that assigned contractors and employees are fully aware of roles and responsibilities of the program.

* Oversee active compliance with the Rayonier Contractor Safety Program and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the program with the belief that all injuries and incidents are preventable.

* Meet regularly with contractor personnel to ensure compliance with Rayonier safety standards and OSHA standards. Ensure that all work is performed safely and per Rayonier Safety Standards.

* Oversee contractor safety reporting, analysis and evaluation of performance of the contractors safety program for all measured key areas.

* Conduct and document worksite safety observations. Follow-up with Rayonier Safety Director and interact with various departments and contractors to resolve concerns or initiate opportunities.

* Provide regional contractor guidance and support to ensure all work is performed safely per the Rayonier Contractor Safety Program. Build and continue strong working relationships with all contracted safety contacts. Assist with routine meetings with contractor's safety management to ensure alignment on safety initiatives.

* Collaborate with other functions within the Rayonier Safety Team including accident prevention, emergency response, and environmental near misses and/or incidents that occur, with the intention on properly resolving and pursuing future prevention of a similar occurrence.

**Required Qualifications**

* Bachelors degree in related field or equivalent experience in forestry operations.

* Minimum of five (5) years of work experience related to the duties & responsibilities of this position is required. Related experience consists of coordinating within department operations, safety programs, operator qualification programs or compatible systems and programs.

* Related experience in contractor management, project management or change management and/or contractor management experience. (preferred)

* OSHA 30 Hour Outreach Trainer (preferred)

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation.

* Understanding of federal, state and city safety requirements, including OSHA

* Experience with PowerPoint, Excel and auditor safety software(preferred).

* Thorough knowledge of safety and regulatory requirements.

* Ability to develop and implement innovative, practical solutions to safety and health issues.

* Ability to communicate with field-based management and operations personnel.
