1. Performs moderately difficult and responsible clerical work in maintaining and checking various kinds of records both in electronic and paper form, e.g. complete unit activity and other required logs; notify Admitting Office of admissions, discharges, transfers; process paperwork related to patient admissions, transfers, discharges and enters information in appropriate forms.
2. Check for receipt/completion of requisitioned items and report unfilled request to Supervisor; monitor and regularly replenish inventory of administrative supplies (i.e. stationary) on unity daily; organize and maintain supplies inventory in an orderly manner.
3. Facilitate communication between MD, RN’s and other staff and hospital service. Notify MD, RN, and other staff of information needs or data as indicated, e.g. phone call to report lab results, etc.
4. Assemble new charts and emboss patient identification information on each sheet; complete form heading; add new sheets and thin charts as needed; maintain patient charts in standard order and files medical record documents/reports in the appropriate chart location obtain charts for providers; ensure that charts are not removed from unite without proper authorization.
5. Greet and direct patients/family/visitors in a pleasant manner, even in stressful situation, in accordance with unite security policies/procedures, orient patient/family to unit, monitor and enable visitors, entry/exit onto the unit; in collaboration with the nurse-in-charge, carry out regulations relative to patients’ visitors.
6. Verify patients’ identity by practicing use of at least tow patient identifiers, ensure that patients’ hospital cards and medical records reflect accurate demographics information, follow appropriate procedures to correct inaccuracies when necessary.
7. Maintain a safe environment for patients/families/staff.
8. Reconcile patient census with admitting staff; communicates with Admitting in a timely fashion regarding bed status/assignments of patients, transfers and discharges.
9. Provide back-up/cross coverage of other units.
10. Other clerical duties assigned by Supervisor/Service Line Administrator.

**Minimum Qualifications**:
1. A high school diploma or its educational equivalent; and

2. Six (6) months of full-time satisfactory clerical experience and/or experience interacting with the public, such as processing sales; taking, processing, and delivering orders; obtaining and dispensing information; listening to and resolving customers concerns, problems, and complaints; and/or performing related customer service activities.
