**JOB DESCRIPTION**:
The Lead Behavioral Health Technician provides basic nursing care, aids with activities of daily living, and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment.

The Lead Behavioral Health Technician participates in Performance Improvement Management in areas such as: client education, staff development, team building, and program development and improvement.

**JOB REQUIREMENTS**:
**Education**:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Minimum two (2) years of education focused on nursing, psychology, social service, medicine or related field preferred.

**Experience**:
Training or experience in substance abuse and/or behavioral health services; preferred. A minimum of 1 year of experience managing/ supervising others.

**Certification**:
Healthcare Provider CPR and First Aid, Fingerprint Clearance Card and TB. Handle with Care within the first three (3) months of hire and annually thereafter.

**Lead Behavioral Health Technician Job Requirements**:
Lead Behavioral Health Technicians will have recognized leadership capabilities as evidenced by written endorsement by an RN, experience in all program areas, and knowledge of program goals. They will have a thorough understanding of campus policies and procedures. They will have the ability to lead staff in “Code” situations, emphasizing safety and de-escalation.

**Knowledge/Skills**:

- Must be able to interact positively with clients daily whose behavior may be difficult, uncooperative or aggressive.
- Must be able to perform concentrated and/or complex mental activity with frequent involvement in complex and/or highly technical situations.
- Must be able to work successfully under highly stressful conditions.
- Must be able to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and/or ethical principles.
- Must be able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures.
- Must be able to collaborate with other multidisciplinary team members in an appropriate fashion.
- Must be capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis.
- Must have effective comprehensive reading skills, strong communication skills, written and verbal.
- Must possess a valid Arizona Driver’s License in order to transport clients and/or staff, or drive hospital vehicles.
