A full-time Special Education Teacher position is available for the full school year in Mount Pleasant, SC, serving K-12 students within an alternative program designed for students with autism who have significant needs. This contract role involves managing a small but highly demanding caseload, specifically two high school students and one middle school student requiring specialized support.
This opportunity requires a teacher prepared to work with students who have severe disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, emotional disabilities, or multiple categories. The successful candidate must be able to handle physically challenging situations while delivering compassionate and effective education to these exceptional learners.
Key responsibilities include:
Implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to students with autism and other severe disabilities
Managing behavioral and educational needs for a small caseload of high school and middle school students
Collaborating with support staff and families to maximize student growth and success
Maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for students with the greatest needs
Qualifications desired:
Valid Special Education certification with endorsements in intellectual disabilities, emotional disabilities, or multi-categorical special education
Experience working with students on the autism spectrum and those with severe educational challenges
Ability to manage physically demanding situations professionally and compassionately
Strong communication and collaboration skills
This full-time role operates Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM and serves within an alternative educational setting focused on students with severe special needs. xrczosw
