A full-time Special Education teaching position is available for the upcoming school year in Summerville, SC, serving K-12 students within an alternative program designed for students with autism who have the greatest needs. This role focuses on providing specialized support and instruction for a severe caseload, including two high school students and one middle school student, all requiring dedicated attention and care.
Responsibilities include:
Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each students unique learning needs and abilities.
Delivering specialized instruction for students with intellectual disabilities, emotional disabilities, or multiple disabilities.
Managing challenging behaviors with patience and professionalism while maintaining a positive and supportive classroom environment.
Collaborating with other educators, support staff, and families to ensure holistic student development and success.
Maintaining accurate records and reports related to student progress and program goals.
Qualifications and desired experience:
Valid Special Education certification with endorsements in intellectual disabilities, emotional disabilities, or multi-categorical special education.
Experience working with students on the autism spectrum, particularly those with intensive needs.
Ability to handle physically demanding situations and remain calm under pressure.
Strong communication and teamwork skills to engage effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
Commitment to full school year, Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 3:45 PM schedule.
