Surgical Scheduler
Lakewood Surgery Center is hiring a Surgical Scheduler. At Lakewood Surgery Center, we believe health and care are inseparable. We focus on offering a high quality, service oriented environment for your surgical procedure. Our facility is accredited by The Joint Commission.
The Surgical Scheduler is responsible for scheduling pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients for the surgery center and assists with insurance verification when needed. The Surgical Scheduler must display excellent telephone etiquette as he/she manages calls of utmost importance to providing quality and continuity of individual patient care.
Schedules all surgical procedures.
Obtains and enters all necessary information from surgeon or scheduler requesting OR time.
Is aware of instruments and equipment limitations of the department.
Communicates special equipment, instrument, supply, and staffing requests to the OR Director.
Proofreads and edits all surgery schedules before distributing.
Contact surgeon's offices two days prior to schedule to confirm surgical times and procedures.
Cross-train in front desk areas, to include Switchboard, Insurance Verification, and Check-in.
High school graduate or equivalent.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
Excellent telephone etiquette.
Thorough knowledge of medical terminology.
Holds all patient information confidential.
