The Senior Program Manager is a key strategic partner that drives the successful execution of cross-functional initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and program roadmaps. They facilitate collaboration across teams, manage complex program structures, and guarantee timely delivery of programs with quantifiable results. This role involves designing and implementing scalable operating models, establishing effective governance and communication plans, and proactively managing risks, resources, and interdependencies across a project portfolio. The Senior Program Manager works closely with the Program Management community to develop standardized practices for program and project management, governance, and communication - promoting cohesion and integration across products and teams. Operates with a strategic, cross-functional mindset serving as a trusted thought partner to cross-functional stakeholders, including Business Product Owner(s) and / or Executive Director(s), supporting the delivery of the organizational program strategy and roadmap. Help define program objectives, scope, and success criteria in alignment with organizational goals. Design a model for execution, including roles/responsibilities, communication plan, meetings/rituals, templates for key artifacts, & governance model including escalation plan for each project. Ensure on-time program delivery by managing across related project timelines and workflows. Manage the overall portfolio of projects and health of the program - identifying risks and escalating issues as needed to ensure project success. Ensure standards for documentation for project actions, progress, and outcomes are met. Identify interdependencies across a portfolio of projects and ensure appropriate order of operations & cross-team collaborations. Manage and communicate program-related changes effectively to ensure smooth delivery & align teams and stakeholders with evolving program goals and priorities. Consistently communicates program plans, progress, risks, changes, and successes with clarity and objectivity. Comply with all laws, regulations and policies that govern the conduct of Genentech activities. Bachelor's degree in business, project management, operations, or a related field or equivalent experience. ~5 years of experience in program or project management, preferably in a cross-functional or matrixed environment. ~ Agile, PMP, CAPM, or similar project management certification. ~ Proven ability to manage project timelines, workflows, and resources to ensure on-time delivery. ~ Demonstrated success in overseeing large-scale, cross-functional projects and delivering strategic business objectives. ~ Strong ability to manage complex portfolios & coordinate multiple teams simultaneously, and work effectively under pressure. ~ Experience in risk identification, escalation, and resolution. ~ Proficiency in project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall. ~ Expertise in project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, MS Project) and reporting platforms. ~ Excellent communication and senior stakeholder management abilities to facilitate alignment across internal teams. ~ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under pressure.
