Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation:
- Highly competitive hourly rate of $28.00 to $36.00, depending on experience.


What’s a typical day as a Heavy Equipment Operator? You’ll be:
• Operating various types of heavy equipment, such as backhoes, draglines, excavators, and tractors, in the construction, maintenance, and repair of drainage structures and related facilities.
• Constructing, sloping, grading, and shaping drainage structures and systems, and setting culverts and pipes as directed by the Manager.
• Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on assigned equipment, and assisting mechanics with repairs when needed.
• Assisting in the maintenance and repair of drainage structures, including cleaning ditches and culverts of brush and trash.
• Following oral and written instructions to ensure the safe and efficient operation of equipment.
• Standing as a flagman to direct traffic when necessary.
• Assisting other personnel when equipment operations are not required or weather conditions do not permit.

This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
• Have at least 4 years of experience operating heavy equipment, such as dozers and excavators.
• Have experience in the construction of slopes, grades, and the setting of culverts and pipes in drainage systems (preferred).
• Possess a valid Texas Commercial Driver's License, Class A, with air brakes and combination vehicle endorsements, or are willing to obtain one within 6 months of employment.
• Have thorough operational skills and knowledge of heavy equipment.
• Are able to perform manual work in varying weather conditions.
• Can maintain effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and the general public.
