Administers anesthetics within scope of practice and in accordance with clinical privileges. Participates in pre-anesthetic preparation and evaluation. Anesthesia equipment and supplies are prepared appropriately for procedures. Evaluates the patient pre-operatively by interviewing and examining the patient; assesses data and selects appropriate anesthetic. Procedural consent is verified prior to each procedure. Patient specific anesthesia plan of care is formulated from the pre-surgical assessment and is reviewed with attending anesthesiologist, physician, podiatrist or dentist. Implements, monitors and adjusts patient#s physiologic condition as appropriate for type of anesthesia and specific patient#s needs. Transfers the responsibility for care of the patient to other qualified providers post-operatively to assure continuity of care and patient safety. Report and completed documentation is provided upon transfer of the patient from intra-operative to post-operative care provider. Acute and chronic post-operative pain management modalities are implemented. Medications, fluids and ventilatory support are selected and ordered to facilitate recovery from anesthesia. The patient is discharged from the post-anesthesia care unit and provided with post-anesthesia follow-up, evaluation, and care. Participates in additional areas of responsibility, which are within the expertise of the individual CRNA, for example responding to cardiac arrests and elective intubations. Ensures appropriate documentation to sufficiently charge for services rendered. # Qualifications: Current license as a registered nurse in the State of Illinois. Current license as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the State of Illinois. Master#s Degree in Nursing and is Certified as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Become privileged and credentialed by the Medical Staff in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws and remain in good standing.
