Aurora CO United States Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. Full time
This is an excellent opportunity to join Amazon's world class Non-Relational and Emerging Database focused technical team in Denver, CO. You will be working with some of the best and brightest engineers and technical managers while also developing your skills and furthering your career within one of the most innovative and progressive technology companies anywhere.

A successful engineer joining the team will do much more than write code and triage problems. You will work with Amazon's largest and most demanding customers to address specific needs across a full suite of services. You will dive deep into technical issues and work diligently to improve the customer experience. You will be a technical lead for your team. By working together on behalf of our customers, we are building the future one innovative product, service, and idea at a time.

We are seeking highly motivated engineers who are focused on elevating Operational Excellence and automation. You will need to think big about strategic ideas to reduce your team's burden, and then work with your manager and team to implement those ideas and increase your team's ability and capacity to delight our customers.

This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities
- Build, deploy and monitor AWS Non-Relational and Emerging Database Services (such as DynamoDB, ElastiCache, and Neptune) within Amazon Dedicate Cloud (ADC) regions.
- Design, deploy, monitor and automate infrastructure, tools and systems to provide a highly-available and resilient platform for our customers' and our team's workloads.
- This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically about 10 days a quarter supporting AWS services in our portfolio.
- Act as a technical lead and mentor for your team

A day in the life
On a "typical" day, our engineers may dive deep to find the root cause of a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending in the wrong direction, launch a new service or feature, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational processes. As a member of our team you will join a dedicated group of engineers who provide troubleshooting and operations support, and innovate to automate operational tasks.

About the team
We work normal business hours Monday through Friday at the downtown Denver office. We spend most of our time building and operating AWS database services for external customers. We focus on operational excellence and are always looking for new ways to be a better team.

Why AWS

Inclusive Team Culture
Here at AWS, it's in our nature to learn and be curious. Our employee-led affinity groups foster a culture of inclusion that empower us to be proud of our differences. Ongoing events and learning experiences, including our Conversations on Race and Ethnicity (CORE) and AmazeCon (gender diversity) conferences, inspire us to never stop embracing our uniqueness.

Work/Life Balance
We value work-life harmony. Achieving success at work should never come at the expense of sacrifices at home, which is why we strive for flexibility as part of our working culture. When we feel supported in the workplace and at home, there's nothing we can't achieve in the cloud.

Mentorship and Career Growth
We're continuously raising our performance bar as we strive to become Earth's Best Employer. That's why you'll find endless knowledge-sharing, mentorship and other career-advancing resources here to help you develop into a better-rounded professional.
