Position Summary: The College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia (UGA) invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Tifton Veterinary Diagnostic & Investigational Laboratory (TVDIL) located in Tifton, Georgia. The Tifton Veterinary Diagnostic & Investigational Laboratory (TVDIL) Director will lead a team of five faculty and 24 staff in a full service, AAVLD accredited, NAHLN tier 1 system laboratory with biopsy, clinical pathology, necropsy, virology/serology, microbiology, and molecular biology sections. The Director is responsible for all operational activities of the laboratory including budget development and management, supervision of professional and technical staff, and management of the quality program. The TVDIL Director works closely with the Executive Director of the Georgia Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories and the Director of the Athens Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in coordinating veterinary diagnostic activities across Georgia and in interacting with the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians, other state diagnostic laboratories, the National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL), the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN), the Georgia Poultry Laboratory Network (GPLN) & other state and federal agencies. The Director reports to the Executive Director of the Georgia Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratories. Additional responsibilities of the TVDIL Director may include instruction of veterinary and graduate students and residents, provision of diagnostic services, and the pursuit of both basic and applied research in his or her area of expertise. The TVDIL Director will also interact with the College of Veterinary Medicine Advisory Board.

Additional Requirements:
  • Advanced training in an applicable veterinary specialty or board certification in a relevant veterinary specialty.
  • At least three years' experience working in or directly with a diagnostic lab.
The successful candidate will be appointed as either a Clinical (non-tenure track), Tenure Track, or Tenured faculty member at the Associate or Full Professor level, depending upon qualifications.
