The Applicator is responsible for correctly applying herbicides and pesticides to labeled crops from recommendations made by your leader. This position also operates all applicator equipment and performs maintenance on that equipment. This position requires a Class A CDL.

What your day may look like

  • Correctly mixes pesticides, fertilizers and chemicals for application.
  • Maintains accurate log books on applicated acres.
  • Performs maintenance and calibration on application equipment.
  • Wears proper protection equipment.
  • Participates in continuing education for maintaining pesticide applicator license.
  • Attends applicator equipment workshops.
  • Performs maintenance on other equipment and fixed facilities.
  • Must be able to work nights, overtime and some weekend hours during busy season.
  • Other work-related duties as assigned by leader.
  • Reliable and regular attendance is expected.

Education and experience needed for this position

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Experience in operating large equipment is required.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to operate Helena equipment and/or drive a company vehicle. Positions requiring a CDL may have differing age requirements.
  • Class A CDL is required.
  • Must pass a drug test and background check.

Other skills that will help you succeed:

  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC) is preferred.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Agricultural background.
  • Basic knowledge of ag pesticides.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Ability to read field maps and use tractor-mounted field computers.
  • Professional competence to safety.
  • Ability to pass a CDL physical examination.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.

Temporary employees are eligible to participate in Helena's 401(k) Savings Plan. Helena matches 100% of employee's contributions based on the employee's contribution rate and years of service with Helena.

*3 year vesting on company match with 1,000 hours of service.

Your work environment and the physical aspects of the job

The work environment for this position is that of a typical outdoor setting in all types of weather conditions with exposure to outdoor elements. When working outdoors and possibly around moving equipment/mechanical parts, the employee may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, chemical and biological hazards, vibrations and a risk of electrical shock. This position requires you to use your hands for many different tasks and to talk, hear, walk, stand, and sit. You may be occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Educacin y experiencia necesaria para esta posicin

  • Se requiere diploma de preparatoria.
  • Se requiere experiencia operando equipo grande.
  • Debe tener 21 aos.
  • Se requiere una Clase B CDL.
  • Debe pasar una prueba de drogas y verficiacion de antecedents.

  • Inclinacin por la mecnica.
  • Se prefiere tener un Certificado de Aplicador Calificado (QAC por sus siglas en ingls).
  • Habilidades de comunicacin e interpersonales.
  • Conocimientos agrcolas.
  • Conocimientos bsicos de pesticidas ag.
  • Historial de manejo excelente.
  • Habilidad de leer mapas de campo y usar computadoras de campo instaladas en los tractores.
  • Competencia profesional para seguridad.
  • Capacidad de pasar el examen fsico CDL.
  • Capacidad para trabajar sin supervisin directa.

Esta posicin requiere que usted use sus manos en diferentes tareas y hablar, escuchar, caminar, pararse y sentarse. Se le requerir de manera regular levantar o mover hasta 100 libras.
