The Role of Herbicides and Pesticides Applicator at Helena

The Herbicides and Pesticides Applicator is in charge of correctly applying herbicides and pesticides to labeled crops based on recommendations provided by your supervisor at Helena. This role involves operating all applicator equipment and conducting maintenance on the equipment. A Class A CDL is necessary for this position.

A Day in the Life of an Applicator
  • Properly mixes pesticides, fertilizers, and chemicals for application.
  • Keeps precise logbooks on acres where pesticides are applied.
  • Performs maintenance and calibration on application equipment.
  • Uses appropriate protective gear.
  • Engages in ongoing education to maintain a pesticide applicator license.
  • Attends applicator equipment workshops.
  • Conducts maintenance on other equipment and fixed facilities.
  • Willingness to work nights, overtime, and weekends during peak seasons.
  • Carries out other assigned work-related duties.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance is required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
  • High school diploma is a must.
  • Prior experience operating large equipment is essential.
  • Minimum age requirement of 18 to operate Helena equipment and/or drive a company vehicle.
  • Possession of a Class A CDL is mandatory.
  • Successful completion of a drug test and background check.
Additional Skills for Success:
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Preference for a Qualified Applicator Certificate (QAC).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Background in agriculture.
  • Fundamental knowledge of agricultural pesticides.
  • Impressive driving record.
  • Proficiency in reading field maps and utilizing tractor-mounted field computers.
  • Professional commitment to safety.
  • Ability to pass a CDL physical examination.
  • Capability to work independently without direct supervision.
