Job Description:
The registered nurse promotes and restores patient health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; and providing physical and psychological support to patients, visitors, and families.
Responsibilities:
- Direct Patient Care: the RN will provide direct patient care. The RN will assess patient condition, notify providers of patient acuity, carry out provider orders, administer prescribed medications, perform prescribed treatments/procedures, transfer patients when necessary, and discharge patients with appropriate instructions according to Hospital policy.
- Compliance: The RN will meet the NYS DOH regulations, standards of nursing practice, AOA, OSHA, and other relevant standards. The RN will interpret, implement, and be in compliance with all established procedures/regulations including COBRA, patient rights, DNV, and HIPPA. Documentation will be accurate and timely to meet required clinical standards and support financial accountability. The RN is responsible for obtaining consent/releases related to patient care according to hospital policy and procedures. Recognizes legal responsibilities and functions within the RN's scope of practice.
- Safety: Maintain a clean and hazard-free environment while performing safe techniques. Utilize the chain of command accordingly to report concerns regarding safety, staffing, patients, quality, and potential emergent situations. Apply emergency protocols as necessary
- Quality: Participates in unit-based, quality improvement initiatives. Participates in the measurement and monitoring of key processes including but not limited to, threats to patient safety, medications, operative procedures, adverse events, restraint usage, effectiveness of pain management, infection prevention, patient flow issues, customer satisfaction, and readmissions.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited associate degree (ASN) or diploma in nursing is required.
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited nursing program is preferred.
- Current and unrestricted NY licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
- BLS is required upon hire within 3 months.
- ACLS is required within 1 year of hire.
