Optica is recruiting for a Senior Manager/Manager, Membership Marketing & Sales. The Senior Manager/Manager, Membership Marketing & Sales is responsible for planning and implementing marketing strategies to increase member sales, and membership products and benefits. In addition, responsible for developing strategic partnerships to increase membership growth and engagement.  

 

This position overall responsibilities are in the following key areas; acquisition and renewal/retention program, member newsletter, Optica on-line store, maintenance of department files and records; selling program sponsorships, career fairs and WorkinOptics.com job board; assistance with development/distribution of promotional gifts and mailings; maintaining up-to-date content on the Web site, and customer service activities.  

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Membership Acquisitions & Retention/Renewal Program

  1. Develop and implement a comprehensive membership acquisition and retention strategy plan to recruit new members to Optica and retain existing members; incorporating corporate sponsorships.
  2. Member revenue dues goals average $2.0M.
  3. Identify high-value sales territory, channels, and prospects to meet membership and revenue targets, in collaboration with stakeholders.
  4. Present, promote and sell products/services/memberships using solid sales techniques to existing and prospective customers.
  5. Responsible for Membership mailings, emails, e-newsletter and other communications (e.g., copying editing and production oversight; includes management of monthly mailing to new individual members)
  6. Monitor automated renewal campaigns (i.e. 90 days, 60 days, 30 days and 0 days).
  7. Oversees Member Onboarding and member survey, analysis data and comes up with recommendations.
  8. Responsible for Journal subscription renewal emails 1 & 2 to select monthly to yearly members
  9. Partners with outside fulfillment center with distributions of member kits.
  10. Responsible for monthly reporting, and member dashboard
  11. Assists with content updates to Optica web sites

 

Membership Engagement: 

  1. Set overall visual and design tone for Optica member Newsletter and Optica online store products.
  2. Executing print, email, online, exhibit and multimedia promotional campaigns outlined in the marketing plans to effectively promote selected membership products. Implementation of the marketing plans includes the development and distribution of email broadcasts; coordinating targeted list development for print or email promotions; and developing marketing materials for exhibits.
  3. Collaborates with Chief in research, and deepening member value and engagement.

 

Membership Sponsorships & Career Fair Sales

  1. In partnership with the C-Level, builds upon on the current strategic plan that leads to sustainability of the WorkinOptics.com job board and contribute to Optica career center.
  2. Responsible for generating revenue for Optica via paid job postings, employer advertisements, and program sponsorships.
  3. Provides day-to-day oversight of the com job board, seeking both quality and quantity of job postings to ensure that the board reflect the depth and breadth of opportunities available to members and customers. With guidance from leadership, sets, monitors, and achieves metrics for job postings and usage.
  4. Partnering with the membership program team to develop new programs and obtain program sponsorships.
  5. Implements and sells 4 to 5 career fairs annual and exhibits at 2 to 3 in-person career fairs.
  6. Develops new contacts with external organizations for the purpose of expanding employment opportunities for members from students to emeritus, and expand programming to customers.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  1. Bachelor’s degree required and design experience/coursework required.
  2. Minimum 5 years experience in graphic design, specifically in the area of magazine production, required.
  3. Knowledge of four-color printing required.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of best practices in traditional direct marketing, digital marketing and prospect/lead generation

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 

  1. Experience managing lists for email and direct mail marketing campaigns for membership sales.
  1. Experience in prospect development & management, member acquisition & retention, and engagement with members.
  1. Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently required.
  2. Interest in science preferred.
  3. Strong customer service orientation required.
  4. Excellent English writing and grammatical skills required.
  5. Must perform consistently well under pressure and be able to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines at once.
  6. Consistent and thorough attention to detail.
  7. Ability to manage multiple high-stake initiatives using effective project management skills.
  8. Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with short deadlines, demonstrating a flexible approach.
  9. Ability to travel approximately 10%.
  10. Driven self-starter who works effectively and efficiently with all colleagues, strategic partners to include senior-level executives and CEOs.
