Patient Registration Representative

Our client is seeking a dedicated Patient Registration Representative who will perform all tasks related to pre-registration and registering of inpatients and outpatients. The ideal candidate will secure and calculate upfront collections with co-pays and co-insurance in an efficient, accurate, and hospitable manner, ensuring that patient, physician, and hospital needs are met. This role serves as a role model within the department and organization, prioritizing patient care above all else. The Patient Registration Representative will continually develop registration and financial counseling skills, learning the fundamental requirements and expectations of the financial counselor role and other departmental functions.
This role is onsite in Los Angeles, California working Monday-Friday, 9:30AM-6PM. Some weekends may be required.
Patient Registration Representative Responsibilities
Perform pre-registration and registration duties for inpatients and outpatients.
Calculate and collect co-pays, co-insurance, and other upfront payments accurately.
Communicate effectively with patients, staff, insurance companies, and physicians.
Maintain stringent adherence to all HIPAA laws and regulations.
Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues promptly.
Navigate through multiple computer screens efficiently to enter and retrieve patient information.
Provide excellent customer service and support, demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
Learn and apply medical terminology and insurance knowledge effectively.
Maintain organized records and documentation of patient interactions and transactions.
Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient experiences.
Patient Registration Representative Qualifications
Two (2) years' experience in a high-volume healthcare facility or medical office setting.
High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in healthcare administration is a plus.
Strong computer skills with proficiency in Word, Excel, and ability to learn new software quickly.
Demonstrated ability to type 40+ words per minute accurately.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Strong attention to detail with good English language skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare insurance practices.
Customer service experience in a medical or healthcare setting preferred.
LA City Fire Card required within 6 months of employment.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel to off-site locations for outpatient services.
Compensation: $22-$24/hr. (DOE)
