Overview

As a liaison between our technology and business teams, the Business Intelligence Analyst (BIA) will closely partner and consult with cross-functional department leaders and personnel across the organization to ensure successful development and execution of solutions and services.

The BIA provides strategic, analytical, and technical support for Business Insights activities. The analyst leverages data to gain key insight into business opportunities, and effectively presents these insights to business stakeholders. The analyst is also heavily involved with the distribution and successful delivery of all reports. This role will work with data analysis and reporting tools to assist with business growth. During the first year this role will assist in the establishment of new software and infrastructure. The Business Intelligence Analyst will need to take on a project management role in the initial year. The scope of deliverables and analysis will increase as the new team is established within 12-18 months.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• The Business Intelligence Analyst will help design, develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive suite of business intelligence tools to inform and support key business decisions related to deposit portfolio and the Credit Union's loan portfolio.
• Effectively manage vendors.
• Serve as subject matter expert in the development of business information deliverables (reports, dashboards, etc.).
• Support data architecture management, system-to-system management, data integration, data investigation and data integrity initiatives
• Construct, maintain and analyze various reports including those identifying needs, concentrations, exceptions, and other data useful to assess deposit and credit risk.
• Provide analytical support for various operational functions including Executive management, deposits, and lending as well as project management divisions.
• Utilize the Credit Union's systems to create reports to manage the assets that require special attention and monitoring.
• Partners with stakeholders, process specialists, and users to elicit and document business requirements.
• Partners with business teams to define and document business requirements for new metrics and reports.
• Designs, develops, and maintains reports and analytical tools.
• Performs ongoing monitoring and refinement of reports.
• Provides technical support for existing reports, dashboards, or other tools.
• Identifies and analyzes errors and inconsistencies in the data and provides timely resolutions.
• Translates data results into dashboards, written reports, tables, graphs and charts to convey information to management in a digestible and visually appealing format
• Creates written communication materials that effectively summarize findings and support recommendations.
• Creates ad hoc reports and views on a frequent basis to assist management in understanding, researching and analyzing issues.
• The analyst leverages data to gain key insight into business opportunities, and effectively presents these insights to business stakeholders.
• The analyst is also heavily involved with the distribution and successful delivery of all reports.
• Teaches and advocates the use of business intelligence tools across levels of the organization.
• Provides strategic, analytical, and technical support for Business Insights activities.
• Performs Market analysis and maintains existing reports on a recurring basis.
• Supports implementation of new technologies and platform.

COMPLIANCE
• Adheres to company policy and procedure, completes annual compliance training, and complies with business continuity and vendor management policy. These are crucial to the success of the organization and have regulatory compliance and/or safety and soundness outcomes for the sustainability of the credit union.
• Complies with all Anti Money Laundering laws such as the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC and USA PATRIOT Act and all related policies and procedures including accurate Member/Customer Identification Program, member due diligence, accurate OFAC match processing, and reporting unusual activities and suspected fraud.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor's Degree in business, computer science, information systems or analytical techniques preferred, or equivalent work experience.
• 3 or more years of experience in Power BI tool including story telling of data visualization is required
• 3 or more years of experience in business intelligence analytics required
• Minimum 3 years of experience in project management or equivalent experience.
• 3 or more years of direct experience in dashboard and report writing required
• Familiarity with relational databases.
• Experience in a financial institution is highly preferred
• Manual dexterity and coordination are required while operating standard office equipment. such as computer keyboard and mouse, calculator, telephone, copiers, etc.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office, SQL, and MS SQL Server.
• Advanced knowledge of common software to build dashboards.
• Demonstrated experience using data to drive business decision.
• Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Experience writing technical documentation.
• Strong skills in project management and requirement gathering.
• Proven ability to quickly learn new applications, processes, and procedures.
• Able and willing to collaborate in a team environment and exercise independent judgment.
• Strategic, intellectually curious thinker with focus on outcomes.
• Financial services, or banking industry experience preferred.

• This position is hybrid based out of San Diego, CA. Must be able to work in office three days a week.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, which support effective communication of information to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Professional with the ability to form good partner relationships across functions. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from business line managers and staff. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to support the business owner with the presentation of business cases and/or other project related matters to Senior Management.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job, the employee must possess strong interpersonal skills, good phone and e-mail etiquette, a professional presentation, and a high degree of personal initiative. Must also possess strong creative skills and good writing skills.
Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects in a team environment, build excellent relationships, take ownership of team performance and results, and foster a sense of urgency and dedication to meeting goals.
Must be organized, self-disciplined and detail-oriented with the ability to manage and juggle multiple projects. Persistent and dependable, especially in meeting deadlines; able to manage multiple competing priorities.
Ability to work independently, as well as with all levels within the credit union. Must be highly organized and capable of handling multiple tasks concurrently, able to redirect priorities based upon current workload, and flexibility to respond to changes of schedules, plans and priorities. Must be able to work during regular business hours and occasional nights or weekends as needed to meet production deadlines in a hybrid-remote environment.

Must be able to work hybird remote from our Corporate Office in San Diego, CA.
