Micro-Surfacing Traffic Control Foreman(Travel Position)

This key role involves overseeing traffic control setups, ensuring compliance with MUTCD guidelines and job plans, and prioritizing safety for both the motoring public and crew members in the work zone. The ideal candidate will be familiar with the unique challenges of micro-surfacing operations, possess strong communication skills, and be able to adapt to the fast-paced nature of the job.

Responsibilities:

Utilize knowledge of MUTCD manual and job plans to set up proper traffic control measures for micro-surfacing operations.
Instruct the traffic crew daily on specific traffic control requirements.
Prioritize safety for the motoring public and crew members in the work zone.
Quickly correct any mistakes in traffic control setup to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Communicate safety concerns directly with the foreman and paver operator.
Maintain open and clear communication with the traffic crew to ensure everyone is well-informed and alert.
Tape down tar paper at bridge decks or job ends prior to the paver's arrival.
Lead cleanup efforts on bridge decks or job ends, ensuring the removal of any debris or excess material.
Collaborate with the traffic crew for efficient and thorough cleanup processes.
Coordinate with a main helper, when available, to assist with various tasks during the fast-paced and material-sensitive operations.
Stay informed about the unique aspects of micro-surfacing operations and adapt to the challenges that may arise during the day.

Requirements:

Proven experience in a lead traffic or similar role, preferably in micro-surfacing or paving operations.
Familiarity with MUTCD manual and the ability to interpret job plans for accurate traffic control setups.
Strong focus on safety for both crew members and the motoring public.
Effective communication skills to instruct the traffic crew and convey safety concerns to the foreman and paver operator.
Ability to adapt to the fast-paced and material-sensitive nature of micro-surfacing operations.
Work collaboratively with the traffic crew and main helper to ensure a successful and efficient day.

Additional Requirements:

Must be willing to be out of town for as required by the job.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Valid driver’s license is preferred.

Working Conditions:

Outdoor work environment with exposure to varying weather conditions.
Manual labor including lifting, carrying, and operating hand and motorized tools.

The posted salary or pay compensation ranges are approximate and dependent on applicable experience and qualifications. Upper ranges are flexible.
