The Air Transport Display Systems organization is looking for a motivated engineer to develop state-of-the-art, industry-leading avionics solutions for commercial jet airplanes. In this role, you will work with other systems, software, and hardware engineers to create solutions that are high quality, reliable and safe. Projects include various displays, navigation, and processing solutions on commercial Air Transport aircraft.
This position will be Onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA. Travel is required (approximately 10-15%)
May be eligible for relocation.
What You Will Do:
- Perform all phases of the system development lifecycle including requirements capture, system design and modeling, integrating with hardware and software components, system verification and validation, and aircraft integration
- Estimate and manage scope, schedule, and budget to deliver systems with high quality and contribute to predictable project performance
- Collaborate with engineers across other engineering disciplines & departments to create a functional system
- Act as a mentor and coach, reviewing the work of junior engineers
- Identify and implement process and product improvements on assigned projects
- Work with external stakeholders to document operational scenarios, develop system requirements, define system interfaces, and perform system validation testing
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
- Experience with all phases of the system development lifecycle including requirements capture, system design and modeling, integrating hardware and software components, system verification and validation
- Demonstrated Subject Matter Expert (SME) in one or more engineering domain areas
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems spanning across multiple disciplines and functional areas
- Ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and develop solutions to implement improvements to systems, products, or processes
- Experience designing, developing, and integrating safety-critical, real-time, embedded systems
- Proficient with high-level software programming languages, preferably C, C++, or Python
- Experience developing systems and/or products that are compliant with SAE ARP-4754, RTCA DO-178, DO-160 and/or DO-254
- Experience with aircraft-level projects obtaining Supplemental Type Certificates from regulatory agencies including the FAA and EASA
- Experience with ARINC standards: ARINC 429, ARINC 661, and ARINC 739

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.
