WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Legal Counsel – Regulatory Programs position requires a mix regulatory/legal, strategic consulting and project/change management experience. This role will require you to develop and deploy expertise in current and evolving regulatory issues while also concurrently building out BCG Legal’s regulatory program, tools and associated processes associated with such regulatory issue (e.g., horizon scanning, legal analysis, operational design and program rollout). Among other responsibilities, you will:

- Leverage Consulting Skills: Collaborate with Legal and other functions to combine expertise and improve regulatory change efforts, ensuring ongoing efficiencies in Legal’s implementation and support.
- Design and Implement Regulatory Programs: Work on the design and operational rollout of compliance programs, supporting the business in responding to regulatory changes.
- Drive Efficiencies of Legal Support: Work with Legal’s Strategy and Operations COE to develop actionable processes and tools that drive scalability in BCG’s regulatory programs (e.g., GPTs, upfront process for regulatory scanning analysis and other programmatic tools features based on regulatory need)
- Lead Crisis Management and Special Projects: Partner on crisis management initiatives and take ownership of discrete legal projects as they arise.
- Support Training and Development: Provide training and continued development of skills within the global legal team and broader business, particularly on regulatory and compliance issues.
- Contribute to Running the Business: Leveraging expertise gained through change the business initiatives support on various legal and regulatory topics (foreign agent registration, anti-trust, ESG, NDAA, conflicts management export control, AI, AB&C, and lobbying).
- Act as a Central Point of Contact: Serve as a key resource for knowledge aggregation, horizon scanning of regulatory trends, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Partner on Existing Regulatory Programs: as the need arises provide support on operational aspects of BCG’s Clears framework (Client Clear, Conflict Clear, Topic Clear).
YOU'RE GOOD AT
- Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Demonstrating superior analytical skills and a creative approach to problem-solving, balancing legal and business objectives.
- Managing Complex Legal Matters: Quickly spotting issues, managing complex legal challenges, and collaborating with diverse, global stakeholders.
- Building Expertise Quickly: Quickly developing new skills and areas of expertise, particularly in the context of international laws and regulations.
- Leading Change Efforts: Deploying and driving large-scale legal change efforts, particularly in collaboration with BCG's Compliance function.
- Being Proactive and Collaborative: Being a high-energy professional who is proactive, hardworking, and a strong team player.
YOU BRING (EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS)
- Educational Background: Graduate degree (J.D.) from an accredited law school (with an active bar license) and an undergraduate business or M.B.A. degree
- Legal Experience: with a top-tier law firm or sophisticated in-house legal department
- Strategic Management Consulting Experience: with a leading strategy consulting firm. This includes experience managing overall project delivery, developing leading edge business models and strategies, delivering formal presentation to management and managing stakeholders to drive consensus around business initiatives.
- Overall Experience: 5-8 years of legal and consulting experience, with 1+ years at a team lead level, ideally with a focus on regulatory, risk management and compliance topics.
- Project management certifications and/and expertise
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, with fluency in English.
