Job Summary and QualificationsUnder the direct supervision, the clinical student will apply their classroom knowledge in a healthcare setting. The position will provide student rotations, externships and exposure to skills and knowledge necessary in their respective clinical areas of study.
What you will do in this role:
- Applies respiratory care modalities and procedures to a group of patients. Evaluates outcomes of patient care, consults with other disciplines as required and adjusts the plan of care as necessary to ensure optimal service.
- Ensure appropriate delivery of cardiopulmonary/patient care for a group of patients according to policy and procedure.
- Participates and facilitates in the case management process and cost containment for patients.
- Cooperates with other personnel to achieve Department objectives and maintain good employee relations and collaborative integration of the health care team.
- Demonstrates accountability for direct patient care and evaluation of patient outcomes.
- Documents all aspects of patient care efficiently and effectively.
- Demonstrates professional practice and conduct at all times.
- Participates in Performance Improvement as appropriate (i.e. data collection, quality control, etc.)
- Demonstrates ability to obtain an ABG sample, analyze the sample and report the results.
- Demonstrates the ability and knowledge to deliver mechanical ventilation.
- Demonstrates the ability to initiate and monitor patients receiving non-invasive ventilation.
- Demonstrates the ability to obtain a quality 12-lead EKG.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
- Minimum Education: Enrolled for credit in the clinical portion of an approved academic program in Respiratory Care
- Minimum Experience: Completion of two (2) semester of a clinical practicum
- Skills: Ability to understand written instructions and perform basic mathematical calculations; demonstrates skills for assigned specialty area/function or assigned procedures, strong communication skills, strong critical thinking, analytical and problem solving skills; ability to perform duties requiring prolonged standing, walking stopping bending and lifting; Demonstrates commitment to the partner-in-caring process by integrating our culture in all internal and external customer interactions.
