HOW A MAINTENANCE TRADES HELPER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
  • Performs simple repairs on machinery and electrical equipment under supervision of more experienced workers.
  • May perform a variety of general manual labor tasks including, but not limited to, lifting and moving materials, loading and unloading vehicles, pulling cables and other activities in a helping or assisting mode.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as hammer, screwdriver, wrenches, etc.
  • Ability to use test equipment such as multimeters and meggers.
  • Participates in special projects as required.
  • Must be able to obtain all necessary badges (DBIDS and shipyard).
  • Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Most work is done in an industrial warehouse environment.
  • Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 50 lbs.
  • Travel (within and outside of the continental United States) Maybe required for up to 10% of the time
  • Must be a US Citizen

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED
  • Required Experience: 0+ years of related experience
  • Required Technical Skills: Ability to use and interpret readings on electronic test equipment.
  • Security Clearance Level: Must be able to attain a SECRET security clearance within six months of hire date.
  • Location: GDIT Chesapeake, VA

Salary and Benefit Information
The likely hourly rate for this position is between $14.45 - $19.55. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
