 Compensation: $35-$37/hr. 

 Job Responsibilities:

 Supporting families in developing goals and objectives related to a visual impairment. 

  • Supporting transitions from early intervention services to preschool, preschool to elementary school, elementary school to middle school, and middle school to high school. 
  • Assisting in the provision of a coordinated set of activities for transitioning from school to adult life, 
  • Providing direct instruction, co-teaching, and participating in other collaborative efforts. 
  • Providing direct instruction in visual efficiency, tactile symbols, braille, assistive technology, auditory skills, social skills, use of near- and low-vision devices, and other areas of the ECC, based on student need. 
  • Consulting and collaborating with parents, teachers, and other professionals. 
  • Assisting in modifying the environment to accommodate specific visual needs. 
  • Modeling appropriate instructional techniques. 
  • Providing, creating, and assisting in acquiring adapted materials as needed. 
  • Maintaining current eye reports on each student, when available. 
  • Recommending adapted strategies for access to the general education curriculum and participation in the school community. 
  • Building student independence and success in home, community, and school environments. 

 Requirements:

 

  • Valid teacher's license/certificate with the teaching field of Visually Impaired (PK-12) in state of practice. 
    • Valid driver's license. 
    • Strong relationship building, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills with school/campus staff, parents, and internal/external stakeholders. Strong interpersonal relationship skills including cultural sensitivity & competence. 
    • Ability to efficiently multitask on a daily basis. 
    • May require successful completion of communicable disease, child abuse, CPR, first aid, CPI and/or behavioral management training or other training as needed. 
    • The employee shall remain free of alcohol or nonprescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment with the ESC. 
    • Proficiency with use of technology hardware and basic software (i.e., Microsoft office), email, and office equipment (i.e., copier, fax, scanner, telephone, etc.). 
    • Ability to preserve confidentiality of student information and records. 
    • Clearance results as acceptable by applicable regulatory bodies. Criminal justice fingerprint/background (FBI/BCI), and public health clearances
