Title: Ophthalmic Photographer Assistant, Cataract Pre-operative Measurements

FTE: Full Time, 1.0, 80.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)

Shift: Days

Pay: $22.14 - $28.78 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

Summary:

Operates specialized ophthalmic equipment and performs ophthalmic imaging procedures for cataract pre-op measurements.

Responsibilities:

  • Under direct supervision of an eye care provider, assists with performing patient care and patient flow.
  • Under direct supervision of an eye care provider: Performs diagnostic imaging and testing including biometry, corneal topography and tomography, OCTs and ophthalmic ultrasound.
  • Provides documentation, patient education and enters charges.
  • Performs clinical and administrative duties in support of assigned area.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.


Requirements:
  • Minimum Required Education: High School diploma or GED.
  • Required Licensure/Certification: Ophthalmic Scribe Certification (OSC) within 30 days of hire or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant certification. Completion of the Ophthalmic Assistant Home Study Course within 1 year of hire (tracked by unit) or Certified Ophthalmic Assistant Certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) healthcare provider.
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years of related healthcare experience.

Preferred:

  • Experience in a cataract practice. General understanding of cataract diagnosis and surgery.
  • Prior experience with biometry (IOL Master a plus), Pentacam, corneal topographer and OCT.
